Club Calendar
Check out our club calendar to stay up to date on all of High Country Garden Club’s events and activities. We hold monthly meetings on the first Thursday of the month at 5:30 PM. We meet at Mt. Cross Lutheran Church, 601 E Hwy. 260 in Payson, AZ in the log building. We hope you’ll join us!
Payson & Pine/Strawberry Seed Libraries
The Seed Library at the Payson & Pine/Strawberry Public Libraries is a collection of open-pollinated and heirloom seeds that you can borrow to plant and grow at home. By saving seeds as a community, we help create local seed stocks that are better acclimated to our unique high-desert climate and support an abundant and genetically diverse landscape. For more information about this program, please contact us for more information, or visit one of the libraries directly.
Our Annual Plant Sale is our primary means of fundraising and our largest event of the year. We rely on the help of hard-working club members to keep our Plant Sale growing strong!
Our Annual Plant Sale
Thanks to all who helped make 2024’s High Country Garden Club’s annual Plant Sale our best ever! The success of our only fundraiser makes possible our ongoing city beautification projects and our charitable outreach activities.
Our annual sale offers mostly member-grown vegetables, herbs, succulents, xeriscape, house plants, and a wide variety of landscape perennials including our favorite irises and some trees. We focus on tried and true offerings that grow in our uniquely challenging Rim Country eco environment.
We also provide a variety of sweet breads, cookies, and many kinds of homemade dog treats at the bakery tent. Our raffle for several special garden-related items creates an atmosphere of anticipation, thanks to the donations of many generous folks, including our sponsors Home Depot and Paul’s Ace Hardware. And, several local specialty vendors also participate, offering their diverse creations for sale.
See you there next year!

Community Beautification Projects
One of our foundational principles is that ours is a club dedicated to the community. Our community beautification and service activities are meant to add a little color, warmth, and charm to the place we live and work. In 2016, High Country Garden Club was instrumental in the City of Payson, AZ naming the Blue Iris as our town flower. We work toward an ongoing goal of planting irises across the city. We plant flowers in gardens for the Rim Country Chamber of Commerce and the Humane Society of Central Arizona, and the Eastern Arizona College – Payson Campus. Also, we plant in multiple medians, roundabouts, and along the American Gulch pathway to bring a little extra brightness to those going about their day.
We consider any activities dedicated to benefitting the community as beautification. Whether we foster beauty by planting a garden or supporting a student’s future, it is the core of what we do. Other community activities we support include Payson High School’s “Students in Need”‘ program, seasonal programs for seniors and children, setting up and staffing exhibit areas and operating the “Kids’ Table” at the Northern Gila County Fair, consulting with other community organizations regarding the development and improvement of local landscapes, and more.
Being a part of supporting the local community is both rewarding, fun, and impactful. Join us and help us grow our impact!
